Description:
Student-Centered Instruction is a way of teaching that puts the students at the heart of all that happens in the classroom.  This class will focus on quick ways to make your classroom more student-centered from day one, incorporating the student-centered philosophy into your teaching, and creating lesson plans for all levels and areas of music education that are student-centered in nature.

Instructor:

Julie Brown has been a band teacher, primarily at the middle level in the Appleton Area School District, for 12 years. She is the government relations chair on the WMEA Council, serves on the WAME committee,  and has been an active member of an action research group focusing on student-centered learning for over 10 years. Mrs. Brown has been published in MEJ and WSM on the benefits of student-centered learning. She has received the Kohl Fellowship for outstanding teaching.
