You've worked hard through college and have landed a teaching position. Now what? This workshop will provide valuable information that will help you not only survive but thrive during your first year teaching. Topics will include, time management, working with administration, leadership, lesson planning, PDP preparation, parent groups and more.

Glenn C. Hayes is the Director of Bands and Professor of Music Education and Conducting at the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater. Under his guidance, the UW-W band program has received regional and national acclaim for excellence in performance both in the concert hall and on the marching field. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble has performed by invitation at conventions of the British Association of Symphonic Band and Ensembles, College Band Directors National Conference and the Music Educators National Conference, and has been critically acclaimed by prominent composers and guest conductors. Most recently, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble presented a featured performance in Carnegie Hall. Through numerous presentations, Dr. Hayes has acquired a national leadership role in the area of band literature and integrative teaching.  In addition to clinics for middle and high school ensembles throughout the Midwest, Dr. Hayes is a member of the Wisconsin Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance Committee.
